Under the Health and Safety (Safety Signs and Signals) Regulations 1996, employers must provide a safety sign where a risk cannot be avoided or adequately controlled by other means. Signs warn about the risk that remains. Your risk assessment tells you which signs you need and where to put them.

Prohibition signs use a red circle with a bar, mandatory signs a blue circle, and warning signs a yellow triangle.
