A printed banner is a flexible sheet printed edge to edge in full colour, usually hemmed around the edge and fitted with eyelets so you can tie it to railings, fences, frames or scaffold. Shops use them for openings and sales, schools hang them on gates, churches fix them to railings and contractors cover Heras panels with them. Banner printing: banner materials, hems and eyelets
- 440gsm PVC: a solid, opaque banner vinyl with bright colours and sharp detail, for shop fronts, walls, railings and events.
- 400gsm PVC-free: a banner material made without PVC, for indoor displays, retail, exhibitions and anyone who wants to avoid PVC.
- 260gsm mesh: a woven material with small open holes that lets air through, for fences, scaffolding and exposed sites.

How to choose the right banner
Start with where it will hang
Measure the fence panel, railing or wall first and leave room for fixings. A banner slightly smaller than the space looks neater than one that overlaps a gap or has to be folded. Ask for a quote if you need help with banner printing.
Match the size to the reading distance
A common sign-trade rule is about 25 mm of capital letter height for every 3 metres of viewing distance. A shop front read from the pavement often suits 1829 x 914 mm (6 x 3 ft) or 2438 x 914 mm (8 x 3 ft). A fence facing a road may need 3048 x 914 mm (10 x 3 ft) or 4000 x 1000 mm. Pick the material for the site
If the banner stays up for weeks on an open fence, choose mesh. For a sheltered wall or an indoor hall, PVC or PVC-free gives the crispest detail.
Artwork tips for large banners
Set your file up at the finished size, or to scale such as 1:10. Images at 100 to 150 dpi at full size are enough, because banners are read from a distance. Keep text and logos at least 50 mm from every edge so hems and eyelets never cut into them. A PDF with fonts embedded or outlined works well, and we also accept AI, EPS, SVG, JPG, PNG and TIFF. Turnaround and delivery
PVC and PVC-free banners are ready to dispatch 4 working days after your order and artwork are confirmed on standard production, 2 on express or 6 on saver. Mesh banners take 6 working days standard, 4 express or 8 saver. Working days are Monday to Friday, excluding UK bank holidays. UK mainland delivery is £7.95 per order and free on orders of £99 and over (goods total after discounts). Oversize items (banners over 3 m on any side, boards larger than A0) add £15 per order. Mainland Scottish Highlands add £10 per order. The Scottish islands, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands and the Isles of Scilly are quoted, so contact us before ordering. Which banner material should I choose?
Use 440gsm PVC for most outdoor banners on walls, railings and shop fronts. Use 260gsm mesh for long fence runs, scaffolding and windy sites, because air passes through and puts less strain on the eyelets. Use 400gsm PVC-free for indoor displays or venues that ask you to avoid PVC.
What is a PVC-free banner?
A PVC-free banner is printed on 400gsm banner material made without PVC. It comes in the same 13 stock sizes as our PVC banners, with the same hemming, eyelet and cable tie options, and suits indoor displays, retail and exhibitions.
How do I put a banner up?
Tie it through the eyelets with cable ties, rope or bungees, using every eyelet so the banner stays taut. On an exposed site add plenty of ties and take PVC banners down before a storm. You can add one or two bags of cable ties when you order.
How many banners can I order at once?
PVC and PVC-free banners can be ordered in quantities from 1 to 99 on each product, and mesh banners from 1 to 500. The configurator shows the live price as you change the quantity, so you can compare before adding to your basket.
Is VAT added to banner prices?
No. We are not VAT registered, so no VAT is added at checkout. The price in the configurator is the price of the banner, and the delivery charge for your order is shown separately before you pay.
