Print prices explained

With print prices explained in one line: the price you see in the configurator is built from your size, material, finish, quantity and turnaround, and it is the price you pay for the goods. No VAT is added. Delivery and any artwork fee are added as separate lines in the basket, so nothing is hidden inside the product price.

How the live configurator price works #

Every product page opens on its cheapest combination, which is the “from” price you see in listings. As you change an option, the price recalculates straight away, because each size, material and finish has its own production cost. You never need to request a price for a standard product: pick the options and the number in front of you is the goods price.

The options that move the price most are:

• Size. Bigger uses more material and machine time. A 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm) PVC banner starts from £38.45; a 6 ft × 3 ft (1829 × 914 mm) banner starts from £57.12.
• Material. A 3mm Dibond sign costs more than the same size in Correx or Foamex, because the board itself costs more.
• Finishing. Lamination on cards and signs, drilling or profile cutting on boards, and extras such as cable ties on banners all add to the total.
• Quantity. Covered in its own section below, because it works differently from the rest.
• Turnaround. The same item costs less on Saver and more on Express.

Quantity steps and the price each #

Quantity is the part of print prices explained least often. On many products the price each falls as the quantity or pack size rises. Set-up is the same whether we print one or fifty, so it is spread over more items. Products with packs show a small table under the price listing the price each for every quantity, which makes it easy to see where the saving levels off.

Quantities come in fixed steps. Business cards come in packs from 100 to 5,000. Correx boards run from 1 to 1,000. Trade labels come in packs that depend on the label and material. If you need a number between two steps, check the price each for the next step up in that table before you decide.

Three real examples, with turnaround prices #

Here are print prices explained with real numbers: live “from” prices for the opening option of three everyday products, at each turnaround. The days are working days to dispatch.

Saver is always the cheapest and Express the dearest. The gap is bigger on some products than others, so if your date allows, Saver is the simplest way to lower a price without changing the job. Our article on print turnaround times shows how to plan back from a deadline so you can use it.

What is not in the product price #

No VAT

We are not VAT registered, so no VAT is added at any point. The price on the product page is the goods price. If you are a VAT-registered business, there is no VAT on our invoice to reclaim. HMRC explains registration thresholds on the gov.uk VAT registration page.

Delivery

Delivery is added at checkout, once per order: £7.95 to UK mainland addresses, and free when the goods total is £99 or more after any discount code. Oversize items (banners over 3 m on any side, boards larger than A0) add £15 once per order. Mainland Scottish Highlands postcodes add £10 once per order, including free-delivery orders. Artwork fees

Artwork help is a separate line in the basket, not part of the product price:

• Upload your own file with a free file check: £0
• Typesetting, with 1 proof + 2 rounds of changes: £15
• Design from your brief, with 1 design + 2 rounds of changes: £35
• Logo redraw: £50
• New logo: £100

Designing in the online designer is free. Artwork and design fees do not count towards the £99 free-delivery total.

Print prices explained for bigger or unusual jobs #

The configurator covers standard sizes and quantities. Ask for a price instead when:

• the size is outside a product’s custom size limits (banners go up to 16 ft 5 in × 9 ft 10 in (5000 × 3000 mm));
• you need more than the largest quantity step listed;
• you want a finish or material that is not in the options;
• delivery is to Northern Ireland, the Scottish islands, the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands, the Isles of Scilly or the Isle of Wight;
• you want several different items priced together.

Ways to keep the total down #

• Order early and choose Saver.
• Combine items into one order so you pay delivery once, and so the goods total is more likely to reach £99.
• Check the price each table before settling on a quantity.
• Use the same artwork across items and choose “same artwork as another item” so one design fee covers them all.
• If a banner is just over 3 m, check whether a size at 3 m or under still suits the space.
