Gym signage

Gym signage covers four jobs: bringing people in from the street, explaining how the place works, keeping the gym floor and changing rooms safe, and marking kit that is broken or due a check. We do not sell gym-specific products, but our general banners, window graphics, Foamex boards, safety signs, floor stickers and labels cover all four. Below is what suits each job, with real sizes and “from” prices, and an honest note where something is not in our range.

Outside: getting people through the door #

• Window graphics: shop window graphics printed in our Manchester workshop on matt adhesive vinyl, from £5.95 for a 300 × 300 mm square or 300 mm circle, and £28.08 for a 1000 × 1000 mm square. Use large window graphics for your name and the one thing that makes you different (24-hour access, women-only sessions, a free first class), and keep the opening hours at eye level on the door.
• Fascia sign: shop signs on 5 mm Foamex or 3 mm Dibond from £23.66 for A4 (210 × 297 mm), with custom sizes up to 2440 × 1220 mm. Dibond is the choice for anything outside long term.
• Launch and offer banners: PVC banners from £38.45 for 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm), or 8 ft × 3 ft (2438 × 914 mm) from £68.33 for the front of a unit. We Are Open banners suit a new site or a relaunch. Check planning rules and your lease before anything permanent goes up.
• Pavement board: A-frame pavement signs from £124.20 for A2 (420 × 594 mm) with two posters, if your council allows boards on the footway.

Gym signage for the gym floor #

Inside, gym signage should explain how the gym works without a member of staff repeating it all day. Printed Foamex boards are the simplest way to do that. Indoor business signs on 3 mm or 5 mm Foamex start at £22.01 for A4 and £55.58 for A1 (594 × 841 mm), with standard production of 3 working days. 3 mm Foamex is light enough to fix with double-sided pads.

For short-lived notices, posters start at £20.42 for A5, with A1 from £24.02. A matt lamination on Foamex boards cuts glare from mirror walls and strip lights.

Floor stickers

Floor stickers come as 300 mm and 500 mm squares or circles, or a 1 m circle, from £42.32, with standard production of 7 working days. They work for marking a stretching area, a spot for each person in a class, or a “start here” point for induction. Apply to clean, dry, smooth floors: they are not made for rubber matting with a heavy texture, so test a small area first.

Safety signs a gym typically needs #

We do not make gym-specific safety signs, but these general signs cover common gym risks. They are A4 (210 × 297 mm) to A1 (594 × 841 mm) on 3 mm Foamex, 3 mm Dibond or self-adhesive vinyl, from £5.28.

• Mandatory: Keep This Area Clear, Keep This Area Tidy at All Times, If You Use It Clean It, Mop Up Spills Quickly and Report Accidents Immediately, all in our mandatory signs range.
• Warning: Caution Slippery Surface for pool sides and showers, Caution Trip Hazard, Caution Mind Your Head for low beams, and Caution Hot Surface or Danger Very Hot Water near saunas and showers.
• Fire and general: fire exit arrow signs from £4.49, Fire Assembly Point signs, No Smoking Including E-Cigarettes and CCTV in Operation signs.

The Health and Safety (Safety Signs and Signals) Regulations 1996 require a sign where a significant risk remains after other controls, and your own risk assessment decides where each one goes. The full regulations are on legislation.gov.uk. We do not currently list a “no food or drink” sign; a custom Foamex board carries that message if you need it.

Changing rooms and toilets #

Changing room gym signage has to cope with steam and daily cleaning, so material matters more than design. Our washroom and hygiene signs include Male Toilets, Female Toilets and Accessible Toilet door signs from £4.30 for 150 × 150 mm, plus Hand Dryer, Drinking Water, Please Leave This Lavatory Clean for the Next User and a Daily Washroom Cleaning Inspection sign, from £5.28. Vinyl suits tiles and cubicle doors in damp changing rooms; Foamex or Dibond suit dry walls in the corridor outside.

Broken kit and inspection labels #

The plainest gym signage is often the most useful: a machine with a fault needs to be taken out of use clearly. Do Not Use / Out of Service labels in 96 × 68 mm or 110 × 75 mm, from £27.22, have lines for the fault, date and who reported it. Equipment Inspection & Calibration labels (51 × 25 mm or 62 × 33 mm, from £27.22) record when each machine was last checked, and Asset labels number every item for your maintenance log. Members, open days and marketing #

• Membership cards: plastic business cards on 570 or 760 micron white PVC (the 760 is credit card thickness), 86 × 54 mm, from £81.32. Standard paper business cards start at £20.
• Open days: roller banners from £65.33 at 850 × 2000 mm for the reception desk or a stand at a local event.
• Flyers: from £19.42 for local drops and class timetables to take away.
