Highlands and islands delivery, and Northern Ireland

Highlands and islands delivery works in two ways: mainland Scottish Highlands postcodes pay the normal UK mainland rate plus £10 once per order, while Northern Ireland, the Scottish islands, the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands, the Isles of Scilly and the Isle of Wight are quoted before you order. The basket works out which applies from your postcode. We do not deliver outside the UK.

Mainland Scottish Highlands: +£10 per order #

The simpler half of Highlands and islands delivery is the mainland. If your postcode is on the Scottish mainland but in the Highlands, you can order and pay online as normal. The only difference is a £10 surcharge, charged once per order however many items you buy. It also applies when your order qualifies for free delivery, because free delivery covers the mainland rate only.

In the basket this shows as one line called “Scottish Highlands delivery”, so you see the full price before you pay. Artwork and design fees do not count towards the £99.

Which postcodes count as the Highlands

The basket matches on the first part of your postcode (the outward code). As a guide, the Highlands surcharge covers mainland postcodes such as:

• IV1 to IV40 and a few others in the IV area (Inverness, the Moray Firth and much of the north west mainland)
• KW1 to KW14 (Caithness and Sutherland, including Thurso and Wick)
• PH4 to PH41 and PH49 to PH50 (Highland Perthshire, Lochaber and Fort William)
• PA21 to PA40 (much of mainland Argyll, including Oban)
• parts of the AB area (such as upper Deeside and Speyside), FK17 to FK21 and G83

Postcodes in towns like Inverness, Fort William, Oban and Thurso are Highlands, not islands, so they can be paid online. If you are not sure of your full postcode, the Royal Mail postcode finder will confirm it.

Areas we quote: Northern Ireland and the islands #

This is the second half of Highlands and islands delivery. For these areas, courier costs vary too much for a fixed online price, so we quote delivery before you order:

• Northern Ireland (BT postcodes)
• The Scottish islands, including the Western Isles (HS), Orkney (KW15 to KW17), Shetland (ZE), Skye and the Small Isles, Mull, Arran and Bute
• The Isle of Man (IM)
• The Channel Islands (GY and JE)
• The Isles of Scilly
• The Isle of Wight

Island postcodes are checked before Highlands ones. So a postcode in the PH or IV area that belongs to an island is treated as an island and quoted, even though its neighbours on the mainland pay the £10 surcharge.

What the basket shows for a quoted postcode #

Enter a quoted postcode and the basket tells you straight away that this area is delivered by quote. You will not be charged the mainland rate by mistake, because checkout is blocked for these postcodes. Instead of the checkout button you see a Get a delivery quote button.

That button opens our quote form with your basket already filled in: each item and its options, your postcode and the goods total. Add your contact details, choose how you want the reply (email, phone or WhatsApp) and send it. A person prices the delivery for your order and replies with the total.

How to get Highlands and islands delivery quoted #

1. Build your basket as normal. Choose sizes, options and turnaround on each product page, and sort your artwork.
2. Enter your postcode. The basket shows whether you pay the Highlands rate online or need a quote.
3. Send the quote request. Use the Get a delivery quote button, or fill in our get a quote form yourself, or call 0161 315 1151.
4. Tell us your date. Deliveries to islands and Northern Ireland can take longer than the mainland, so a deadline helps us suggest the right turnaround. Our guide to print turnaround times explains the options.
5. Accept the quote. We then take the order with delivery included.

Large items to remote areas #

Long and wide items cost more to move anywhere, and they need extra care in Highlands and islands delivery. If your order includes a banner over 3 m on any side or a board larger than A0, say so in the quote request. On the Highlands mainland, the £15 oversize charge is added to the £10 surcharge as normal; our article on the oversize delivery charge shows which sizes count. For some remote jobs, choosing a size just under the oversize limit, such as a 3 m × 1 m PVC banner instead of 10 ft × 3 ft, keeps things simpler.

Size and weight both matter when you ask for a quote. Stationery, labels and small banners make compact parcels, while 8 ft × 4 ft (2440 × 1220 mm) hoarding panels are large and heavy, so give sizes and quantities in full and the quote will reflect the real parcel.

Outside the UK #

We deliver to UK addresses only. If you enter an address outside the UK, the basket explains this. If you are abroad but need items delivered to a UK address, such as a venue, a site or a colleague, that is fine: use the UK address at checkout.
