Caution Slippery Surface Sign

Use this sign where you need to say "Caution Slippery Surface" clearly. It warns that the floor or ground may be slippery, and is commonly fitted in entrances, kitchens, wash areas, ramps and outdoor paths in winter. The design uses a yellow warning triangle with black text, with the ISO 7010 W011 (Slippery surface) symbol.

The Health and Safety (Safety Signs and Signals) Regulations 1996 require employers to provide a safety sign where a risk cannot be avoided or controlled by other means. Warning signs use a yellow triangle with a black border. Keep a note of where each sign is fitted as part of your records.

You can have it printed on 3mm Foamex (rigid PVC foam board), light and easy to fix indoors or for short-term outdoor use, 3mm Dibond aluminium composite, rigid and weatherproof for long-term outdoor use and self-adhesive vinyl for smooth walls, doors, glass and equipment. How far away will people be? As a guide we allow about 1 metre of viewing distance for every 25mm of sign height, based on the distance-factor method in ISO 3864-1: A4 (210 × 297 mm) (reads at about 8 m); A3 (297 × 420 mm) (reads at about 12 m); A2 (420 × 594 mm) (reads at about 17 m); A1 (594 × 841 mm) (reads at about 24 m).
